Honest comparison of the three most relevant stablecoin payment gateways for Spanish-speaking merchants: real fees, supported networks, KYC, fiat settlement, USDT TRC20 support, and LatAm reach. Comparison table, pros and cons, and when each one wins.
If you run an online business in Latin America and you're evaluating stablecoin payments, the three names that show up in every search are Coinbase Commerce, BitPay, and TronDealer. This article is a direct comparison: what each one does, how much it costs, which networks it supports, who its ideal merchant is, and — most importantly — which one fits a business that bills in USD/USDT but operates in Spanish-speaking markets.
We are not going to oversell: there are cases where Coinbase Commerce or BitPay are the right choice, and we'll point them out. But there is one specific pattern — LatAm merchant, low-to-mid ticket, USDT settlement, TRC20 network — where TronDealer was specifically designed to win.
Fee, network, and KYC policy data correspond to publicly available provider information as of the update date (April 2026). Gateways change pricing and terms frequently: always confirm with each provider before signing a contract. Current TronDealer fee: 0.4% per transaction when the payment is $10 USD or more, or a flat $0.30 when the payment is below $10 USD — whichever applies, never both at the same time.
If you are in a hurry, this is the verdict:
If your average customer pays $5–$50 USD in stablecoins and you need to collect across the Caribbean and LatAm, TronDealer is the only one of the three built for that case.
| Criterion | Coinbase Commerce | BitPay | TronDealer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Per-transaction fee | 1% (relaunched Coinbase Commerce) | ~1% + network fees | 0% with QvaPay custody · 0.4% (or flat $0.30 if < $10) with own wallet |
| Automatic fiat settlement | No (crypto-only since 2024) | Yes (USD/EUR in supported countries) | Yes, via QvaPay account (USD, CUP, EUR) |
| Merchant KYC | Coinbase account required | Mandatory business KYC | None to start; optional for QvaPay |
| Supported stablecoins | USDC, USDT, others on supported networks | USDT, USDC, BUSD, DAI | USDT and USDC across 6 EVM networks + TRON |
| USDT TRC20 (cheapest network for LatAm) | Supported | Supported | Supported with built-in energy renting |
| Multi-chain with same address |
For years, Coinbase Commerce was the most recommended crypto gateway for entrepreneurs. In 2024 it underwent a major restructuring: it stopped offering automatic USD conversion and repositioned itself as a tool to receive pure crypto, integrable with Shopify, WooCommerce, and other ecommerce platforms.
BitPay is the oldest crypto gateway (founded in 2011) and the traditional choice for merchants who want to receive in crypto but settle in fiat. It has survived multiple market cycles.
TronDealer is a gateway designed from scratch for the Spanish-speaking merchant who already understands USDT, already operates on cheap networks (TRON, BSC, Polygon), and needs a low-friction API — fast onboarding, no heavy enterprise paperwork, and ready to integrate in minutes.
1. Fee proportional to provider risk.
2. USDT TRC20 with built-in energy renting.
TRON charges USDT transfers in energy (a resource obtained by freezing TRX). For a merchant this is a nightmare: if you don't hold TRX, every sweep costs $1.50–$3 USD in gas. TronDealer integrates energy renting — it rents energy on-demand before each sweep, reducing gas to cents.
3. Unified multi-chain EVM wallet.
A single Ethereum-format address valid on BSC, Polygon, Arbitrum, Base, and Avalanche. Your customer can pay you on any EVM network, and TronDealer detects the deposit on the correct one. Coinbase Commerce and BitPay handle this with per-network addresses, adding checkout friction.
4. HMAC-SHA256 signed webhooks with configurable webhook_secret.
Just as robust as Coinbase Commerce's or BitPay's signature, documented in the integration guide.
5. Configurable automatic sweep.
When a deposit reaches the required confirmations (default 15 on BSC, configurable per client), funds are automatically swept to the main wallet or QvaPay account. This is a service Coinbase/BitPay don't offer because they are custodians — TronDealer is non-custodial by default.
These are the cases where another gateway is the better fit:
Let's see it with concrete numbers. Imagine a digital-products store with an average ticket of $15 USD, 300 sales/month in stablecoins, customer base spread across the Caribbean and LatAm.
For this case, TronDealer custody is effectively free versus $45–95/month with the alternatives, and own-wallet payout costs 2.5×–5× less. In both modes, energy renting is included so you never have to handle TRX for gas yourself.
So you understand exactly what the gateway does when a customer pays:
X-Signature-256 HMAC-SHA256 to your webhook URL. This is the event you typically use to release the product or service. In short: TronDealer notifies your backend three times per transaction — at detection, at confirmation, and at sweep — so you always have a real-time view of where the payment is.
If you come from Coinbase Commerce or BitPay this progression is familiar — the difference is that in traditional custodies, step 4 is "funds are in the provider's account" and you withdraw manually. In TronDealer there is no manual step.
How much it costs to process a single payment on each gateway, assuming USDT TRC20 (cheapest network) and real prices in April 2026:
| Ticket | Coinbase Commerce (1%) | BitPay (1%) | TronDealer custody | TronDealer wallet |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $5 | $0.05 | $0.05 | $0 | $0.30 (flat under $10) |
| $10 | $0.10 | $0.10 | $0 | $0.04 (0.4%) |
| $25 | $0.25 | $0.25 | $0 | $0.10 |
| $100 | $1.00 | $1.00 | $0 | $0.40 |
| $500 | $5.00 | $5.00 | $0 | $2.00 |
| $1,000 | $10.00 |
On tickets of $10 or more, own-wallet payout is always cheaper than Coinbase Commerce or BitPay (0.4% vs 1%). At any ticket with QvaPay custody, TronDealer is 0% while the others charge 1%. Only on tickets below $10 does paying to your own wallet become more expensive than the competitors' 1% (the flat $0.30 fee dominates) — in that case choose custody and stay at zero.

webhook_secret.Cons:
If you already have an integration with either, migrating to TronDealer is straightforward because the webhook contract is semantically equivalent:
Register your business via POST /api/v2/clients/register-public. No manual approval needed.
Assign a wallet per client via POST /api/v2/wallets/assign. The EVM address is reusable across BSC/ETH/POL/ARB/BASE/AVAX.
Configure your webhook URL and the webhook_secret for HMAC. The signature travels in X-Signature-256 just like in Coinbase Commerce (X-CC-Webhook-Signature).
Map the states. TronDealer fires webhooks at multiple lifecycle points (detected, notified once confirmed, and swept). If your system expects confirmed → record payment, the equivalent event is the notified webhook (fired after the configured confirmations are reached) — exactly the same lifecycle point as in Coinbase Commerce. The detected webhook lets you mark the order as "payment seen" before confirmation, and the swept webhook helps you reconcile treasury.
Configure payout_method. If you want to keep funds in custody (Coinbase Commerce style), choose and withdraw from your QvaPay account. If you want non-custodial pull-payment style, choose and funds arrive automatically at your own wallet.
The 6-step integration guide covers the full code with curl, JavaScript, and Python examples.
There is no universal answer: the right gateway depends on your customer, not on the brand.
If you fit the third case, the 6-step integration guide takes you from zero to first signed webhook in an afternoon. And if you need to validate contracts before accepting payments, the verified USDT and USDC contracts reference is your allowlist.
